The Artworks
As to the notion of style, although speaking of poetry, Barry Wallenstein, in the foreword of Metamorphosis of Joy, captures the essence of Mr. Dépas’ approach into making art, by stating “Albert Dépas, the speaker, editor, painter, and encourager of the arts, here metamorphoses his voice from talker to singer as his diction transform from commonplace expression to the highly charge forms of poetic speech.” Working primarily in the abstract style, Dépas’ aim is to explore our multi-faceted mundane realities through creativity, and fashioned his experiences into a realized composition, through any chosen medium. Ultimately, his goal is to achieve a work of art in which the idea depicted would invoke, in the viewer, an alternative perception that may not have been observed before, be it a painting, sculpture, drawing, photograph, collage or a poem.
Dépas believes that an artwork should do at least one of the followings: entertain the emotions, educate the mind, and enlighten the soul. Therefore, through his artistic creation, he is committed to enriching a shared experience in our collective consciousness.
